NIETZSCHE QUOTE

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

Friedrich Nietzsche

Human beings are basically herd animals, born to live in large groups as Aristotle stated. But some of us have decided we'd rather live on our own as individuals than inside the hive. That does not necessarily condemn one to a lonely existence, as there are other such free spirits around.
